Located in Shahbagh, the heart of Dhaka city, Shahbagh Children's Park is also known as Shaheed Zia Shishu Park or Dhaka Shishu Park. It was established in 1989 as 'Shaheed Zia Shishu Park'. Established in the public sector for the entertainment of children, this is the first children's park in the country since 1983.
The Dhaka City Corporation, under the Ministry of Local Government, is supervising the park, which is being set up on a 15-acres site at the initiative of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation. The children's park has 12 rides. There are a toy train, a merry-go-round ride and multiple wheel rides. In 1992, a jet was donated to the park by the Bangladesh Air Force as a courtesy.
More than seven to ten thousand people visit this children's park in Dhaka every day. And during happy times like Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, it increases several times. The park is currently closed for renovations.
